This event was started in 1991 as a meeting point for guitar collectors, but in a very short time the festival became a classic

appointment not only for the vintage and high-end guitar fans, but also for all those who consider themselves music lovers.

Soave 2010 Guitar Festival - the 19th edition of the event - will celebrate 50 years from that 1960, when - it was July -

The Shadows conquered Europe with their new and precious sound, which we knew through their incredible hit Apache, becoming

the strongest influence for all of the young musicians in our continent.

Therefore this year's poster has been designed around the "Shadowcaster", a very special guitar which portraits this legendary

group in its four historical lineups: the first on the front, with the Soave castle, and the two intermediate ones, with the original

British and Italian covers of the record, around the three Shadows still in great activity, i.e. Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch and

Brian Bennett.

Once again this guitar - a Fender Stratocaster '56 R.I. Relic of the Fender Custom Shop - has given us by Patrizia Bauer,

owner of Casale Bauer Spa, official importer of Fender instruments since the early 60s.

And once again the author of its decoration is our friend Renzo Pagliani, who made two samples. One of these jewels will be put

in our Museum, whilst the second will be drawn free of charge among those people who attend the evening concerts of the festival.

This raffle will take place on 2nd May, during the last evening concert.

This event will run along three days, and the usual three main streams, as follows:

  • Guitar exhibition and market, at the Town Hall (10.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.; entrance will be allowed until 5.00 p.m.), with qualified

  • national and international dealers and collectors;

  • warning: the exhibition will take place inside the town hall building only. Those who are interested in exhibiting their instruments

are kindly requested to contact me, via telephone or e-mail, in order to book a booth. Every visitor will be allowed to carry only

one instrument inside the town hall yard. No instrument can be brought inside the exhibitions areas.

  •

  • Clinics and workshops, at the medieval Black Friars Church (11.00 a.m. - 5.30 p.m.), held by outstanding guitarists (our special

  • guests and others);

  •

  • Evening concerts, at the Basket-ball Palace  (9.00 p.m.).

  •

  • Important:

  • - As you can see, as we don't have the usual "long weekend" on 2010, on Friday 30th April we have scheduled only

  • the evening concert

  • - All those friends who buy a ticket for the concert of Friday 30th April will be given two tickets for the "Shadowcaster " raffle,

  • instead of one

Guests of "Soave 2010 Guitar Festival"

  • Tommy Emmanuel, the only acoustic guitarist in the world about whom every appreciation word has already been spent:

  • he is "the greatest", "the greatest, E.T., the extraterrester, the mith, the only, the...", going on till the end of our vocabulary.

  • But for us is our friend Tommy, with us almost every year since 1999, when, starting from Soave, he went on shocking Italy,

  • Europe, being recently awarded by Guitar Player magazine as "the best living acoustic guitarist".

  • I don't know what more the future con give him, can proudly to remember that it all began here! www.tommyemmanuel.com

  •

  • Monte Montgomery, the most gifted and creative artist of the Texan musical scene, and surely one of the greatest artists

  • of the American panorama. This time he will be with us with his band and for the fourth time in a row, to make us enjoy his

  • music. If you never saw him performing a live concert, here is a great chance to see one of the most capturing artists in the

  • planet in action! www.montemontgomery.net

  •

  • Frank Vignola, who will be with us for the third time, is one of the most incredible and versatile guitarists in the planet.

  • His career is amazing and full of co-operations with extraordinary musicians, such as the great and legendary Les Paul.

  • This year Frank will perform in trio again, backed by Vinny Raniolo (guitar) and Gary Mazzaroppi (double bass). Julien

  • Labro (accordion) from France will join the trio as special guest. On Tuesday 29th April 2008 Frank performed an

  • unforgettable concert at the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, which is now available on DVD. www.frankvignola.com

  •

  • Pete Huttlinger, an American guitarist, a great friend of the festival (where he performed on 2006), whose fame reached

  • Europe several years ago. On 2000 he was voted as “best fingerstyle guitarist of America”. We are very proud and happy

  • to have him back with us, sure that he will surprise our public once again. www.petehuttlinger.com

  •

  • Muriel Anderson, another great comeback! Muriel, one of the most appreciated American guitarists, was already with us

  • several times, becoming one of our festival's best friends. edizioni θ una delle piω acclamate chitarriste americane. Muriel

  • is the artist who invented and still successfully runs the "All Star Guitar Night", a concert she puts on when the N.A.M.M.

  • Show takes place, hosting some of the most famous guitarists in the world. www.murielanderson.com

  •

  • Jean-Felix Lalanne, from France, is the guitarist whom Marcel Dadi presented at the "Soave 1996 Guitar Festival" as the

  • best young artist of his Country. Nowadays Jean-Felix is surely the most outstanding guitarist of France, and one of the

  • most respected in Europe. Muriel Anderson invited him as her special guest, so, thank to her kindness, we will be very

  • pleased to have him back again with us. www.jeanfelixlalanne.com

  •

  • Bermuda Acoustic Trio, coming back after a two years absence, due to Kamsin Urzino's (bass player) health problems.

  • Unfortunately Kamsin passed away last October, leaving all of his friends in a painful situation. But his partners Giorgio

  • Buttazzo and Gabriele Monti took the decision not to let the trio stop its activity, so they found a new bass player, whose

  • name is Andrea "Atto Alessi", and put up the group again. Once again they will take care of your entertainment in the

  • Town Hall yard, during the daytime on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy! www.bermudatrio.com

  •

  • Roberto Dalla Vecchia, a flatpicker from Vicenza, is a very serious and dedicated artist, and has already been our guest

  • at the Soave 2007 Guitar festival. His studio work and live performances are highly appreciated by his public and our

  • best specialized press. Roberto also runs "VicenzAcustica", an interesting concert which takes place every year in Vicenza,

  • hosting prestigious musicians coming from all over the world. His hew CD "Unknown Legends" is simply splendid!

  • At the festival Roberto will do a clinic in the daytime and will also perform in an evening concert.

  •

  • Biorn, a group from Rome that I discovered thank to a young friend and fan of theirs. I have been impressed me a lot by

  • the freshness and the solidity of their music, their lyrics and their arrangements. Nowadays people tend to classify

  • everything, probably just to simplify an approach. Well, regarding Biorn I think that trying to give them a label makes no

  • sense. They are new, creative, fresh, and, in the same time, very deep. They are a band I didn't think could have been

  • born in our Country. So let me say that I am proud to introduce you Manuele, Blaze, Eddie e Aure. They will play in an

  • evening concert and also do a clinic in the medieval church. Enjoy! www.biorn.it

  •

Important: The DVD of "Soave 2009" concerts is almost ready, thanks to Maurizio Ongaro  and his team from Exastudios.

                                                                     Booking

Following our tradition of guest care, “Soave 2010” will offer its visitors an accurate booking service, giving a large selection of

options which include the visit to the guitar exhibition, the concerts, the clinics, hotel accomodation at special fares, and Saturday

evening “gala dinner” with the special guests.

We'd like to give you a chance to enjoy an unforgettable weekend.

As usual, we made agreements with the best hotels in the area. These are: "Roxy Plaza" (in the center of the village, close to

the medieval walls. www.hotelroxyplaza.it ), "Cangrande" (1.5 Km. far from the center, on the SS. 11, towards Verona.

www.hotelcangrande.it ), "Soave Best Western" (previously named "Hotel Bologna", 2 Km. far from the center, on the SS. 11, towards

Vicenza. www.bestwestern.it ), "Bareta" (on the SS. 11, 6 Km. far from the center, towards Verona. www.hotelbareta.it ) and

"Relais Villabella", roughly 2 Km. south of Soave, after crossing SS. 11. www.relaisvillabella.it ). To these hotels we have added another

one called "Hotel Brusco" (on the SS. 11, 6.5 Km. far from the center, towards Verona. www.hotelbrusco.it )

They all are very good and comfortable

The agreements we made allow us to give you the same prices for "Cangrande", "Bologna", "Bareta" and "Brusco". To book at "Roxy Plaza"

and "Relais Villabella" you need to pay a slight difference, as showed below.

Attention please: starting from today 14th April we will register your new bookings at "Holiday Inn Verona-Congress Center" a.k.a.

"Hotel Catullo VR Est", an excellent hotel placed a few hundred meters from "East Verona" A4 motorway exit in the direction of

Verona, from which we just got a good number or rooms. www.holidayinn.it/veronacongr

The hotel accomodation includes "room + morning breakfast (buffet)".

Soave (VR) is a medieval village, based in northern Italy, halfway between Verona (km. 20) and Vicenza (km. 30). It’s easy to come.

Use the “A4” motorway, and get out at “Soave” exit.

Soave is wellknown for its famous white wine called “Bianco Soave”.
