This event was planned to be a meeting point for the collectors, but in a very short time the festival has become a classic appointment

not only for the vintage and high-end guitar fans, but also for all those who consider themselves music lovers.

2008 will be the 17th edition of the festival and also the 40th anniversary of 1968, the year of Peace & Love, Civil Rights and all

those subjects which involved the Young Generation. The greatest personality who can be considered the real hero of that period is surely

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the man "who had a dream!". That dream is still a strong guideline for all of us.

To celebrate his memory we have created a special guitar, which we called the "Dreamcaster", a beautiful instrument based on a real

Fender Stratocaster '57 R.I., given us by Patrizia Bauer, owner of Casale Bauer Spa, official importer of Fender instruments since the

early 60s.

This instrument has been decorated by Renzo Pagliani, who made two samples. One of these two jewels will be put in our Museum, whilst

the second will be drawn free of charge among those people who will attend the evening concerts of the festival.

This raffle will take place on 27th April, during the last evening concert.

This event  will run along three main streams:

  • Guitar exhibition and market, at the Town Hall (10.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.; entrance will be allowed until 5.00 p.m.), with qualified

  • national and international dealers and collectors;

  • warning: the exhibition will take place inside the town hall building only. Those who are interested in exhibiting their instruments

are kindly requested to contact me, via telephone or e-mail, in order to book a booth. Every visitor will be allowed to carry only

one instrument inside the town hall yard.

  •

  • Clinics and workshops, at the medieval Black Friars Church (11.00 a.m. - 5.30 p.m.), held by outstanding guitarists (our special

  • guests and others);

  •

  • Evening concerts, at the Basket-ball Palace  (9.00 p.m.).

  •

Guests of "Soave 2008 Guitar Festival"

  • Tommy Emmanuel, the most incredible nowadays talent in the acoustic guitar world. Nominated for the Grammy Award of

  • "Country Music", he is the man who continues the art of the great Chet Atkins. Tommy made his first appearence at the

  • Soave Guitar Festival in 1999, and he almost never missed our appointment. We are so proud of his friendship, and hope

  • that his love for Soave will last forever! www.tommyemmanuel.com

  •

  • Lizzie Watkins, singer, guitar player and composer of great talent; exactly that beautiful young lady you already met at

  • “Soave 2004”, singing with Tommy, and sharing life and love with him. Now Lizzie has her own CD, which bears the title

  • “Somehow”, where you can hear her beautiful original songs. She has a great voice and an incredible soul!

  •

  • Monte Montgomery, a true star from Texas. When you listen to him don't wonder if it is pop, rock, folk or blues. Monte is

  • such an incredible and complex talent. In his music you'll find everything. Great guitarist, singer and composer. If you had

  • no chance to see him before, don't miss him. He will definitely capture you!

  •

  • Muriel Anderson, back again after her successful performance at "Soave 2004". Her music crosses many styles: classical,

  • country, blue grass, touching whatever can be expressed through six nylon strings. Muriel is the beating heart of the

  • "All Star Guitar Night", a concert which is normally held in parallel with the NAMM Shows, with the partecipation of many

  • famous guitarists. www.murielanderson.com

  •

  • Laurence Juber, another great comeback!. Laurence is one of the most talented acoustic guitarists in the world. Among his so

  • many artistic experiences, I'd like to remember his cooperation with Paul McCartney and The Wings in the LP called

  • Back To The Egg. Laurence will be with us for the third time, to present and play his music, and his very original

  • arrangements of other famous tunes, from The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix repertoirs. www.laurencejuber.com

  •

  • Massimo Varini, who will be with us once again to present a brand new acoustic project of his. Therefore you will see him

  • perform for the first time on the acoustic guitar, and playing a number of his own compositions, which will feature the

  • voice of Rossella Zanasi, a singer who has been involved in this project from the beginning. So, don't be surprised to see

  • Massimo on stage without his beloved solid body guitars. I can assure you that he is worth anyway!

  •

  • Franco Morone, one of our best acoustic guitarists. During his career he has built himself an outstanding reputation in our

  • Country and also abroad. I don't think there are guitar lovers who don't appreciate the quality of his music, which is the

  • natural result of his great talent and passion. Now he has a new CD "The Road To Lisdoonvarna", a real jewel. Don't miss it!

  • Moreover don't miss also "Songs We Love", another great CD Franco will publish within a few weeks, which will feature the voice

  • of Raffaella Luna ( www.raffaellaluna.com ), who will be in Soave with him, to present some songs from this new album, another nice cameo.

  •

  • Reno Brandoni, one of the historical masters of the Italian acoustic guitar. He left the scene for a period, but now he is back

  • again with soul, strenght and inspiration. In the last years he created a new website www.fingerpicking.net, the new home for

  • the Italian fingerpickers. When I met Stephan Grossman for the first time, talking about the Italian guitarists, he told me that

  • Reno was one of the two best disciples he had in our Country. I can only say that he was definitely right. So, enjoy his beautiful

  • music! www.renobrandoni.it  Reno will do a clinic, and play in concert with

  •

  • Giorgio Cordini, Venetian, he moved to Brescia at the end of the sixties. There he met Mauro Pagani, with whom he played in

  • two groups called “JB Club” e “Forneria Marconi”. They are still great friends and musical partners. Giorgio, a real blues lover,

  • worked with several American musicians, such as Carey Bell, Otis Rush, Louisiana Red, and also cooperated with Italian artists

  • like Cristiano De Andrè, Massimo Bubola, Nada, Roberto Vecchioni and Massimo Ranieri. He played the guitar and the bouzouki

  • in every tour Fabrizio De André did since 1991 and on. On 2006 he started cooperating with Reno Brandoni, first in the artistic

  • production of his cd “YELDA”, and since last year as a partner in their bouzouki-guitar duo, which presents an original repertoire.

  • Ref. Luisa Moleri - (+39) 329 4504500  www.giorgiocordini.it

  •

  • William Dotto, from Treviso, he is another natural talent, who found his own way working hard and studying with a great master

  • such as Alex Stornello, a great friend of ours and a steady presence at the festival, where his clinics had a huge number of

  • followers. William is a all round guitarist, who anyway expresses himself at his best tapping the strings, a technique he devoted

  • himself with a lot of passion. At the moment he is a teacher at MMI in .....   www.williamdotto.com

  •

  • Giovanni Palombo, one of the most outstanding guitarists in the Italian scene. His style is a beautiful balance of technique

  • and taste, in a mixture of jazz, folk, mediterranean melody, and classical memories. Giovanni has been teaching for many

  • years at the CIAC Music School in Rome. He has also been cooperating for a long time with CHITARRE magazine, with

  • articles and music transcriptions. www.giovannipalombo.com

  •

  • Màrçio Rangel, from Brazil, started to study the guitar when he was 14 years old as an autodidact. A few years after he

  • dedicated himself to regular studies and got graduated at the Conservatory at the age of 24. He is left handed, but plays the

  • guitar turned upside-down, which means tuned as it had to be played by a right handed guitarist. This very personal technique

  • lets him get heavier bass and softer treble notes, and a different and original way to play the chords. I'm sure that Marçio will

  • be a nice suprise for everyone! www.myspace.com/marciorangel

  •

  • Giovanni Baglioni, the son of Claudio Baglioni, one of the most successful Italian singers of the last four decades. He is a very

  • talented musician, and has been able to make his way without taking advantage of his father's name and reputation.

  • Giovanni decided to start his carieer as a solo acoustic player after having been given "Only", that great CD of Tommy

  • Emmanuel's, his biggest inspiration. Then he met Pino Forastiere, who became his master, mentor and friend, making him

  • know the style of Michael Hedges' and all his followers. At the moment he is more and more devoted to create his original

  • repertoire, but he also dedicated himself to "Nudo di donna" and "Vivi", a couple of famous compositions of his father's,

  • which he arranged in 2005. Giovanni is a young strong and inspired guitarist. You will love him!

  •

  • Giovanni Ferro, from Verona, started to play the guitar when he was 12 years old. At the age of 14, when he met Enrico Nuti

  • and his father, he began to dedicate himself to the great North European folk music, studying artists like Dougie Mc Lean, Allan

  • Taylor, Dave Walters and others. He also approached jazz and bossa nova with a lot of passion, and engaged himself as an

  • arranger. Working on Marco Giacomazzi's music he won the "Cant'Autori" national award in 2002. On 2005 he took part to

  • “New Sound” contest in Sarzana, where he met the artists of Fingerpicking.net. At the festival Giovanni will organize and

  • manage the "open mic" moments inside the Town Hall yard. www.zonacustica.it

  •

and for the first time at the Soave Guitar Festival

  • The Frank Vignola Quintet, a real gem of the six strings. Frank Vignola is one of the most flamboyant and versatile guitarists

  • in the planet. His career is a splendid history of original productions and cooperations with extraordinary musicians, last but

  • not least the great Les Paul. The quintet will feature Frank Vignola (lead guitar), Vinny Raniolo (rhythm guitar), Matt Flinner

  • (mandolin), Pete Coco (bass) and Rich Zukor (percussions).

  • After the festival, The Frank Vignola Quintet will perform a solo concert at the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, which will be audio

  • and video recorded, in order to produce an unforgettable DVD! www.frankvignola.com

Following our tradition of guest care, “Soave 2008” will offer its visitors an accurate booking service, giving a large selection of

options which include the visit to the guitar exhibition, the concerts, the clinics, hotel accomodation at special fares, and Friday

evening “gala dinner” with the special guests.

We'd like to give you a chance to enjoy an unforgettable weekend.

As usual, we made agreements with the best hotels in the area. These are: "Roxy Plaza" (in the center of the village, close to

the medieval walls), "Cangrande" (1.5 Km. far from the center, on the SS. 11, towards Verona), "Soave" (previously named "Hotel

Bologna", 2 Km. far from the center, on the SS. 11, towards Vicenza) and "Relais Villabella", roughly 2 Km. south of Soave, passed SS. 11.

They all are very good and comfortable

The agreements we made allow us to give you the same prices for "Cangrande", "Bologna". To book at "Roxy Plaza" and "Relais Villabella"

you need to pay a slight difference, as showed below.

The hotel accomodation includes "room + morning breakfast (buffet)".

Hereafter  you can find the list of the booking options.
