This event was started in 1991 as a meeting point for guitar collectors, but in a very short time it became a classic appointment

not only for the vintage and high-end guitar fans, but also for all those who consider themselves music lovers.

Soave 2012 Guitar Festival, the 21st edition of the event, will also be the final one.

I say it with pain in my heart, but we all know that it's better to take a decision when you can still manage the events, than to

wait until the events decide on your behalf. We will have time to talk about this when we meet in Soave. I'm sure you will

agree with me!

Anyway, as this will be the last edition, I have tried to make it the best and richest of its history.

2012 is a very important anniversary, as it comes 50 years after The Beatles recorded and entered the British scene with

their first single "Love Me Do". "P.S. I Love You" was the "B" side.

This event started a revolution which, through the music, changed our way of life.

I think that I could find no better subject to close the history of our festival. 

Therefore the official poster has been created around the "Beatlescaster", a special guitar that, celebrating The Beatles,

will also say "Thank You" to all those artists and friends who have been part of its history, including you, who gave us your

support.

Once again this guitar - a Fender Stratocaster '57 UPGR - has been given us by Patrizia Bauer, owner of Casale Bauer Spa,

the official importer of Fender instruments since the early 60s. And once again the author of its decoration is our friend Renzo

Pagliani, who made two samples. One of these jewels will be put in our Museum, whilst the second will be drawn free of

charge among those people who attend the evening concerts of the festival.

This raffle will take place on 30th April, during the last evening concert.

Should the winner not be at the venue at the final concert, the guitar will be held at his (her) disposal until 15th May.

After that day the guitar will not be assigned.

The winning number will be posted on the home-page of the festival's website. Therefore i beg you not to phone or e-mail

me to ask me about the the raffle, because I will not be able to give you personal answers.

This event will run along three days (Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th and Monday 30th April) as follows:

• Guitar exhibition and market, at the Town Hall. Opening time:10.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. (entrance will be allowed until

• 5.00 p.m.), with qualified national and international dealers and collectors;

• Warning: the exhibition will take place inside the town hall building only. Those who are interested in exhibiting their

  instruments are kindly requested to contact me, via telephone or e-mail, in order to book a booth. Every visitor will be

  allowed to carry only one instrument inside the town hall yard. No instrument can be brought inside the exhibitions areas.

• Clinics and workshops, at the "Rocca Sveva" Auditorium (Via Covergnino, 7), just outside the town walls, on the east

• side of town): 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. / 3.00 p.m. - 5.30 p.m., held by outstanding guitarists (our special guests and

• others); see the program below.

• Evening concerts, at the Basket-ball Palace (Via S. Matteo) : 9.00 p.m. (doors open at 8.00 p.m.)

• Pedro Javier González, one of the most successful performers in the history of the festival. Last time he performed in

• Soave with Toni and Roger on 2005. Too much time has passed from then, but these friends of ours had several more

• chances to come back to Italy and perform in our Country. Pedro has also dedicated himself to a solo career, which will

• see him perform in Russia on 29th December with the National Philarmonic Orchestra of Moscow. He will play the

• Bermuda Acoustic Trio, back again after bass player Kamsin Urzino's tragic death. His place has now been taken by

• Roberto Dalla Vecchia, who has been one of the gems of Soave 2010, has accepted our invitation to do a clinic in their

• Massimo Varini, back in Soave in his acoustic version, which allows him to show a very interesting side of his poetry.

• Francesco Faldani, a true and natural talent, who has been close to us since the time he used to follow Tommy Emmanuel's clinics at Castelbrando. • Little Barrie, a great rock band from the U.K., born in Nottingham and established in London, whose success is growing day by day among in their Country and abroad. Powerful songs, great guitar, bass and drums, and a strong stage presence are the ingredients of their success. Members of the band are Barrie Cadogan (founder of the group, guitar, voice), Lewis Wharton (bass, voice) and Virgil Howe (son of the legendary Steve Howe of "Yes" - drums, voice). After the terrible damages caused by the floods of November 2010 and March 2011, now Soave can count again on its civil            structures, including the beautiful Roxy Plaza Hotel, which many of you know very well, especially those who have been as        lucky as to have stayed there in the past years.

The refurbishing of this prestigeous hotel - the only "four stars" of our area - has been ended in June 2011, very much in advance compared to the previously estimated time. It has has been upgraded in its structure and services, therefore now it can offer more comfort to those of you and our guests who will stay there.                                                     

This said, following our tradition of guest care, “Soave 2012” will offer our visitors an accurate booking service, giving a large        selection of options which include the visit to the guitar exhibition, the concerts, the clinics, hotel accomodation at special fares, and Saturday evening “gala dinner” with our special guests.

We'd like to give you a chance to enjoy an unforgettable weekend.

As usual, we made agreements with the best hotels in the area.
